An estimated one-third of Beijing’s 16 million population come from other parts of China, many of which have helped to build Beijing to its current state today. Many of these migrants come to the capital with nothing more than a red, blue, and white-colored bag filled with their life’s belongings from home. This t-shirt is designed to commemorate the millions of migrant workers who were brought to the capital to tear down, dig, and build the “new” Beijing showcased to the world during the 2008 Olympics. The characters “Hong, Lan, Bai” (红蓝白) describe the three colors of the bag.
