The two Chinese characters “Bu Chai″ (不拆) simply means “Do not destroy″ in reference to the destruction and ensuing re-development of Beijing’s old neighborhoods of winding alleyways, otherwise known as “hutongs″. Over 90% of Beijing’s hutongs have already been destroyed and they continue to be areas targeted for re-development today. With our “Bu Chai″ t-shirt, we aim to create awareness and support for hutong preservation. Together, we can find a way to both preserve the past while creating new.
不拆，这两个字简单说来就是不要拆毁，意指不要拆除北京蜿蜒小巷，胡同，进行北京旧城改造。90%以上的北京胡同已经被拆毁，剩下的胡同区如今也已列入改造对象。在T恤上印“不拆”，我们意在提高公众意识，支持胡同保护。只要共同努力,我们可以有办法保留历史,同时创新.
