Another Uncle Blue event will be held at our NLGX store on May 31 at 8pm. Uncle Blue himself will introduce some of his new products and the singer Lucie Cheung and her band will set the right tone for this special occasion. Hope to see you there!
The following excerpt was taken from CHP’s introduction and event sign up form, which is located in our shop. Additional information can also be found on their website at www.bjchp.org or by emailing volunteer@bjchp.org.
In September 2003, the Beijing Historical and Cultural City Protection Plan, compiled by the Beijing Planning Committee, was approved by the Beijing Municipal Government. This plan is the key constituent to the protection of the historical and cultural districts for the Old City. The plan concerns “historical and cultural protection districts” which are defined as “a specific block, buildings, villages, or towns which have traditional appearances or ethnic character.”
With respect to the victims of the Sichuan earthquake, NLGX & Uncle Blue are holding a little charity event at our shop. The event started this weekend and will carry on until June 1. Some of the Uncle Blue design products are on special sale with all the profits going to charity organizations in China. Thanks a lot for buying his products and donating money!
With respect to all those affected by the massive earthquake in Western China, we will be operating at reduced hours from May 19 to May 21, the official mourning period in China.
Online donations are accepted by the Red Cross Society of China here, a site enabled by Chinese online payments provider IPS.
Contributed by our friendly neighborhood Token Hawaiian. Aloha!
The Chai Sign means Destroy! and is often seen on old buildings that the local planners want to destroy. Sometimes it can be a less than perfect bathroom, or sometimes a beautiful old building.
Well Fool’s Garden dropped by the shop, I met Volker lead guitarist, and Peter the lead singer and his buds. (There were a total of 3 Peters in their German group) They were on a concert tour to Chongqin. While en-route in mid-air the earthquake shook Central China; they were required to turn back to Beijing where they had to stay a few more days. We met up with them, found out they’re pretty cool guys and found out that they’re now doing a benefit tour for the earthquake victims now. Well NLGX supports you guys, so good luck on your trip!
